Litigation Attorney - Chicago, IL
A nationally recognized trial and litigation firm is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join its Chicago office. The firm focuses on complex civil defense matters, including medical malpractice, healthcare liability, and catastrophic injury cases. This position offers the opportunity to gain immediate responsibility in active litigation, including client contact, courtroom appearances, and trial preparation, within a team known for its trial strength and professional mentorship.
Offer:
$120,000 - $160,000 annual base salary depending on experience

Qualifications:
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in Illinois
2+ years of civil litigation experience, ideally in medical malpractice, professional liability, or personal injury defense
Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
Experience drafting motions, handling written discovery, conducting depositions, and preparing for trial
Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Healthcare or insurance defense background is a plus, but not required
Responsibilities:
Handle all phases of litigation in complex civil defense matters, including case evaluation, discovery, and motion practice
Conduct and defend depositions of parties, experts, and witnesses
Prepare clients and experts for testimony, and assist in trial preparation
Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and litigation management
Represent clients in court hearings, arbitrations, and mediations
Maintain clear and timely communication with clients, insurers, and internal teams
